Bentley Speed 8 By Racing Green Engineering

Racing Green Engineering have developed a fine reputation over many years for their finely honed and well detailed replicas of the Vintage Bentley. They not only look the part but also provide much of the same on the road exhilaration whilst being much easier to drive in a modern environment and maintain.

This example was constructed by Racing Green some years ago and has been lightly used since, time has given it a degree of patina which greatly enhances the feel of the car. It was built to their highest specification at the time as detailed below:

Chassis: Refurbished Bentley Mark 6. Luvax Bijour chassis lubrication system.

Engine: Bentley B80, eight-cylinder in-line with overhead inlet and exhaust valves. Dry sump lubrication system with remote oil filter.

Cooling System: Pressurised cooling system with five-blade 16" belt driven cooling fan.

Fuel System: 4 SU Type H 6 carburettors mounted on balance polished aluminium inlet manifold. Selectable engine driven mechanical or twin electric fuel pumps. Fuel tank capacity: 25 gallons

Exhaust System: Large-bore straight through stainless steel exhaust system.

Clutch: Single dry plate, heavy duty.

Transmission: Bentley Four speed and reverse, with synchromesh on 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears.

1st – 2.98:1
2nd – 2.02:1
3rd – 1.34:1
4th – Direct Reverse - 3.15

High Ratio Crown Wheel and Pinion to give 20% higher ratio.

Suspension: Upgraded front and rear road springs

Steering: Cam & roller steering, ratio 15.25:1. 18" Bentley steering wheel.

Braking System: Hydraulic front drum brakes, mechanical rear drum brakes, assisted by mechanically driven servo. Upgraded brake shoe linings, additional cooling ducts to front brakes.

Wheels and Tyres: 21" wire wheels with 21 x 7.00 tyres. Knock on spinners.

Electrical System: 12v negative earth. Battery housed in under floor compartment. Safety cut out switch in rear luggage compartment. Charging via upgraded alternator. Lucas P100 headlamps, fitted with halogen 55/65w bulbs. Additional Cibie long range driving lamps fitted with 55/65w bulbs. Lamps fitted with mesh stone-guards. Direction indicators discretely fitted.

Bodywork: Ash framed, treated with wood preservative.

Aluminium panelled and covered with wadding and green rexlne. Double duck retractable hood and full tonneau cover. Folding windscreen fitted with laminated safety glass.
All bright work nickel-plated.

Interior: Leather upholstered, with driver and passenger bucket seals. High quality close woven carpets.

Instrumentation: Full compliment of period instrumentation.


The car is fully sorted and on-the-button, ready to be enjoyed over the forthcoming spring and summer months.
