1972 Lancia Fulvia 1600 HF Lusso Series 2
An exceptionally nice UK supplied right hand drive example that has been fully and correctly sorted by the best Fulvia specialists. In superb order throughout it retains the special HF factory specification including aluminium closing panels, Dellorto 40 carbs and the extremely rare optional Campagnolo alloy wheels.
The car was initially registered in September 1972 by Lancia main dealer David Short Motors of Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire and used as a demonstration vehicle. At the end of that year it was bought by a local couple who used it every day for their daily forty mile commute. As further detailed in emails on file this couple traded the Lancia in for a more practical Scimitar GTE in 1976, they were given £1,100 for the Fulvia at which point it has covered 45,000 miles.
Following a long period of inactivity the little Fulvia was rescued by a Mr Ralph Forbes, owner of Central Garage Galashiels, a former Lancia main dealer. He discovered the car in 2005 and began a restoration programme beginning with a full body restoration and repaint to a very high standard by Scorpion Reproductions in Wales, a noted Fulvia specialist.
Unfortunately age and infirmity meant the project remained unfinished and Ralph sold the car as a part finished rolling project in early 2021.
This next owner had obviously done his research as the Lancia was sent straight to Day And White, a highly regarded Lancia specialist who rebuilt the engine and all mechanical componentry as detailed in invoicing on file.
Following its completion the car was sold to the last owner, an experienced Italian car lover. He sent the car to Omnicron, a long-established Lancia expert for further fettling. Work included Dynamat insulation, new carpet kit, new door rubbers, adjusted panel fit, new pre engaged starter motor, fuel tank, new standard exhaust, concealed USB socket and adjusted suspension settings. Following this work Omnicron declared it to be one of the nicest examples of its type.
Today the car looks fantastic, the true essence of a sporting Italian coupe. On the road it continues to impress with a surprising turn of speed and a great soundtrack, the small size, steering precision and super sorted suspension provide for a joyous driving experience. So much charisma for not a lot of money really.
It comes with a good history file detailing ownership history, correspondence and invoicing that documents the extensive restoration works.
