1995 Porsche 993 Turbo 4 ‘GT2’

This unique Porsche is the result of a German Porsche enthusiast’s desire to create his ultimate air cooled 911 variant that could be used on a daily basis whilst providing extreme performance and capability in all conditions. The last air cooled model, the 993 series was the obvious choice but should it be the 4 wheel drive Turbo or the ultimate performance version the GT2? For every day rapid driving a 4 wheel drive GT2 version would be the obvious answer and as Porsche never made such a version our deep pocketed enthusiast decided he would.

First a suitable 993 Turbo had to be sourced in his favourite colours of Guards Red with full black leather and full specification. Once found, in 2011, the Turbo was delivered to highly respected Porsche experts S&N Automobilzentrum in Aachen who were commissioned to convert the car to GT2 specification using original factory parts. Invoicing on file details the work and clearly no expense was spared, indeed the build took the car to beyond GT2 spec, the K24 hybrid turbo’s provide larger turbo internals giving the advantage of a bigger turbo that also spool up quicker, which with 100 Zeller Kats allow for a power output of 520bhp, some 90 bhp more than a standard GT2.

Several years ago this special GT2+ spec Turbo 4 was offered for sale by the highly regarded classic Porsche dealer, Hexagon Classics. It did not take long for motoring writer and founder of EVO Magazine, Harry Metcalfe, to spot the car as he had been looking for an ultimate air cooled 911 for some time to add to his impressive collection. Over many years Harry has driven and owned the finest cars produced and with these lofty standards this 911 really had to deliver on the inspection and test drive. Fortunately it did and was immediately purchased. 

Following purchase the Porsche was dispatched to Porsche Specialist Autofarm for inspection, servicing and further uprating including fitment of lightweight GT2 Motorsport glass, colour coded GT2 bucket seats, removal of sound proofing material and rear seats as per GT2, fitting of a bespoke standard GT2 carpet set and colour coded seat belts, GT2 gear mechanism together with a myriad of detail work which is fully documented in the many invoices on file from Autofarm. Harry has enjoyed the car and it has become well known to many motoring enthusiasts with appearances at many events and in social media, it really is now “Harry’s Porsche”. 

Most recently the car has returned to Autofarm for maintenance and further fettling including a new gearbox to ensure it is ready for a new owner to enjoy to the full. Again this work is detailed on file.
