1988 Range Rover Vogue Turbo Diesel
This remarkable classic Range Rover has covered just 15,000 miles from new and remains in almost as new condition in all respects. The Alaskan blue metallic paintwork is original and unmarked and the normally faded velour interior is fresh in appearance and smell. A comprehensive report by specialists carried out last year confirms the chassis and underpinnings to be undamaged by use or corrosion indeed a covering of factory wax remains in place. A short drive today confirms all to be well mechanically the car starting perfectly and driving much as it must have when new. The manual gearbox being especially positive in action.
The Range Rover was supplied when new by Land Rover main dealer Knowles of Epperstone to a local customer, Mr Taylor, also based in Nottinghamshire. He collected his new car on the 1st August 1988 and traded in his 1974 Range Rover which had covered only 42,000 miles at this point. The original sales invoice on file details the transaction. Mr Taylor retained the car for the next twenty years and obviously looked after it very carefully whilst using it sparingly. It was returned to the supplying dealer for maintenance (who were later renamed Merlin) during this period as shown in the original stamped service book and service invoices on file.
Mr Taylor clearly loved his Range Rover but as he became older it was used less and less, he eventually realised it was time for a new enthusiast to enjoy the car. Mr Taylor sold the car with 14,000 miles recorded and three further owners have added just one thousand more miles between them. Each clearly understood the responsibility of owning such a fine example and they have continued to look after and maintain the car correctly as indicated by service stamps and invoicing in the history file.
This really must be one, of if not the, finest example of its type. An original Classic Range Rover in almost as new order with just 15,000 miles covered mostly by the first owner and with a complete history to date.
