1974 MGB GT V8
An extraordinary find and almost certainly unique, this MGB GT V8 has covered just 4,100 miles from new in the hands of three owners and remains in completely original condition in all respects throughout.
Finished to a great specification and rare, as a pre impact bumper manual overdrive example, this V8 was first delivered in 1974 to a resident of East Sussex by his local British Leyland MG dealer. Several months from new and with just over 1,000 miles on the clock the cars wheels were stolen. The owner evidently took this event very badly as following their replacement the car was placed in a garage on his estate and never driven again. In 2011, following this first owners demise, the contents of his substantial estate were offered for sale by auction, the MG featured amongst the lots offered.
An MG enthusiast bid successfully for this special car and following a proper recommissioning he used the car sparingly in fine conditions for the next few years, increasing the mileage to 4,000 miles.
In 2014 the MG was purchased from this enthusiast by the third and final owner who has a penchant for totally original low mileage classics. Since purchase the MG has seen very little use but has been very carefully stored in correct conditions.
The much abused term “time warp” really is appropriate here for this MG looks, drives and even smells as only an original low mileage example can. Every detail is absolutely correct. A great and special MG for not a lot of money really.
