1965 Jaguar E Type S1 4.2 Coupe

This fabulous E Type is an original matching numbers UK example finished in its original colour combination of Light Opalescent Blue with contrasting dark blue leather interior. It is in outstanding order throughout following an exacting full restoration completed in 2014.

The E Type was supplied when new by Jaguar distributor Ashton Preston Garages in Preston, Lancashire to a local company Charles Sowden & Sons. The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate confirms also a build date of 16th March 1965 and a dispatch date from the factory of 23rd March 1965.

History on file from 1978 comprising invoices and MOTs show a mileage in 1978 of 67,038 miles increasing to 79,188 miles today, this being covered by four owners in this period. Service and parts invoices would indicate that the E Type was well maintained and kept on the road at a time when many examples were allowed to decay into ‘basket case’ status.

In the late 1970’s the car was sold by E Type specialist Don Collins of Silmans Garage in Uppingham, this is confirmed by their rear window dealer sticker still in place, number plates and an intriguing confirmation the current owner has recently had with a past employee of this company who remembered the E Type and provided a photograph of it at their premises between two E Type V12 models.

In 2012 the owner commissioned a full restoration to original specification by well-known Jaguar experts MV Classics of Droxford, Hampshire. Photographs on file show the high quality of the work undertaken and five years after completion the car remains in excellent condition in all respects, the real test of a restoration.

Since 2014 the car has regularly attended a number of events including Le Mans Classic and a number of Jaguar Drivers Club meets. It has been fastidiously maintained in recent years by Lee Ridley of Castle Classics near Basingstoke, who is the E Type Register restorations advisor.

A great example of perhaps the nicest E Type variant that drives as well as it looks. It comes with the abovementioned history file, tool kit and spare keys.
