Mercedes 1985 380SL This must be one of the finest original examples of a W107 in existence. The car has covered just 12,000 miles from new in the hands of four owners, all of whom have clearly cherished the car as is indistinguishable from new throughout. The car was supplied when new by Mercedes Dealer Swinford Motors of Stourbridge in May 1985. It was ordered with the factory options air conditioning and Blaupunkt Toronto stereo by Mr Allen of W G Allen Ltd, based in nearby Wednesbury. He placed his private plate, JOY 5N, on the car and used it as a second car during summer only. Indeed, when he sold the car back to Swinford Motors in September 1992 it had covered only 9 ,000 miles. During his ownership the car was returned to Swinford Motors for servicing as is shown in the original stamped service book. The second owner, Mrs Janet Srodzinski of Kington, Hereford, purchased the car from Swinford Motors in September 1992, she placed her private plate, 26 LGS, on the car. During her ownership the car was hardly ever used - when she sold it in April 2001 the mileage had risen to just over 10,000 miles. During her ownership the car was serviced by Swinford Motors and by Pentagon Mercedes. The third owner was a Mr Blenkinship, an ardent Mercedes fan who had obviously been looking for a superb original SL. Whilst in his care the car was seen at a number of Mercedes Club Concours Events. He again maintained the car correctly using Mercedes Dealer Ciceley Continental of Preston, Lancashire. When he sold the car the mileage was just 12,000 miles. In September 2003 Mr Blenkinship sold the car to an Irish collector who had been looking for a perfect SL to join his significant car collection based near Dublin. During his ownership the car has been stored in perfect conditions and has hardly been used, the mileage today is only 12,200 miles. The car comes with all books and chassis cards in the correct plastic wallet, all tools are present and the history file contains a number of service invoices, MOT certificates and ownership history. A remarkable car that looks, smells and drives like new.
