1966 Maserati Quattroporte
What a great display of high Italian design and charisma!!! The Quattroporte, flagship of the Maserati range was a rare prestigious model designed to transport the elite in high speed comfort across continents. This example must be one of the finest in existence having been restored to the highest standards by marque specialists.
One of only 230 built this Quattroporte was supplied new to Italian pilot Luciano Rizzi in Vercelli, he ordered the car with electric windows, Borrani wheels, air conditioning and ZF 5 speed gearbox with coachwork in Grigio Floride with red leather, a specification the car retains to this day. After a number of years the car was exported to New Mexico, it remained in a collection in America until it was bought by a British marque enthusiast in the 1980's who had been looking for a good original car with the right specification to restore for many years.
Foloowing its arrival in England a restoration commenced, the aim being to create the finest Quattroporte. A large history file indicates the comprehensive nature and quality of the work completed, every aspect of the car was addressed, for example new bumpers were handmade at huge expense and over £5,000 was spent on the air conditioning system alone!! The greatest test of a restoration however is how it lasts over the passage of time. Today the car looks much as it must have when just completed, the quality of the work and careful use and storage since have insured that it remains in superb condition in all respects.
The car was invited to the prestigious Salon Prive Concours D'Elegance in July 2010, it was much admired and shortly after this it was purchased by a private collector. Each car in his small private collection is maintained to the highest standard, the aim being that each of his cars can be driven and enjoyed reliably as their maker intended at a moments notice. To this end the Quattroporte was sent to Maserati specialists Bill McGrath for a full inspection. All aspects found wanting were addressed, indeed there are detailed invoices for in excess of £20,000 on file.
A fantastic and enigmatic Italian sports saloon and probably the finest example of its type. In superb condition and very usable this car represents excellent value.
